UPCOMING PAINTING CLASSES:
I've just been asked to do an en plein air watercolor workshop on Saturday, July 10th for the Pahaquarry Foundation at a nearby site in NJ, just across the Delaware.
Also, I have two additional watercolor painting opportunties coming up shortly through the Pocono Arts Council, one en plein air and one in their Stroudsburg classroom at the ARTSPACE Gallery located at 18 No. 7th Street.
1. For the PoconoARTS Program:
EN PLEINE AIR WATERCOLOR PAINTING:

ONGOING PRIVATE, SEMI-PRIVATE & SMALL GROUP WATERCOLOR AND ACRYLIC PAINTING CLASSES AT PHEASANT RUN ART STUDIO IN SAYLORSBURG… INTENSIVE PRIVATE INSTRUCTION @ $15.00/ 1 hour; $30.00/ 2 hours; $40.00/ 3 hours. Pahaquarry Foundation, Inc. Picnic and Paint Out
A gathering of artists-watercolorists to celebrate the beauty of the Pahaquarry section of Warren County, at Mohican Outdoor Center/DWGNRA located near the Delaware River. Artists are invited to work on their own/share their discoveries.
For painters wishing to improve their en pleine air painting skills, Poconos impressionistic watercolor teacher/artist Will Daskal will be offering a 4-hour en pleine air painting class, 10-12. After a delicious lunch, the workshop will continue from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.
July 10 Event Schedule
9:00-10:00 Sign in. Breakfast snacks are available.
10:00-12:00 (Part 1) & 2:00-4:00 (Part 2) Watercolor Workshop, En Pleine Air with Will Daskal. $25.00 donation is requested for members, $40.00 donation for non-members, (lunch & membership included in donation).
Mohican is on Catfish Pond between two ridges in the Delaware Water Gap National Park. The watercolor workshop will be conducted on the lake at the boathouse from 10 AM to 4 PM. There is a covered deck that overlooks the lake that will be used for the class, as well as several other scenic locations.
The boathouse will be the site for the picnic from 12-2. The boathouse has electricity but no running water. Bathrooms are a short distance away in the Dining Hall.

2:00-4:00 Continuation of Watercolor Workshop

Will Daskal is an award-winning, watercolor landscape artist living in the bucolic Pocono Mountains. He is an energetic, highly regarded and well-known regional watercolor impressionist and watercolor painting workshop instructor who loves to paint, taking great pride and pleasure in being able to pass on his technical knowledge to his many eager, receptive students!

Directions to Mohican Outdoor Center
From Pennsylvania:
1) Take Interstate 80 East to Route 94 North.
2) Take Route 94 North about 7 miles to a traffic light, near an A&P Shopping Center on the left. Go through the light and keep going for approximately 1 mile.
3) After about 1 mile past the traffic light, turn left onto Mohican Road.
From Mohican Road:
1) Follow Mohican Road 3.5 miles to Gaisler Road. CAUTION: This is a winding road with several forks; always bear right at the forks.
2) Turn left and take Gaisler Road for 1/2 mile.
3) Turn right onto Camp Road (just before the "Children Playing" sign). Camp Road turns into a dirt road.
4) Cross the Appalachian Trail.
5) You will come to an unlocked gate; drive through.
6) When you see the lodge on the left and a double garage on the right, stop, park, and come in to the lodge to register.

Course Overview:
Will Daskal's painting classes are directed at increasing fundamental painting skills and proper use of the media and materials, while focusing on appropriate compositional design, use of value and color, and how to achieve the effects students desire in their finished pieces. The instructor focuses on the individual needs of each student and circulates continually among the class members offering individual help, advice and ongoing encouragement. You may benefit as much from overheard advice to other students as you do from the personal attention you receive. Will always demonstrates techniques or principles that apply to the painting upon which you are working. You may use photographs, reproductions of other paintings or other source materials for your paintings. Will always has suitable sample pieces on hand for student use. Will encourages you to paint what you love or admire rather than what you think is appropriate subject matter. He welcomes all styles or approaches to painting. The atmosphere of the class is friendly, non-threatening, and conducive to student-teacher interaction. All levels of skill are welcome from advanced to complete beginners.
