Retirement Home -- Watercolor on Cold-pressed Paper
|
I started working in watercolor during the summer of 2005. I have learned that painting is not simply a matter of creating a picture, but rather, a process of keen observation and the placement of line, shape, form and color – masses of lights, mid-tones and darks – onto paper or canvas, allowing the right side of my brain to take over completely. Now, my paintings are exhibited on a regular basis at the ARTSPACE Gallery in Stroudsburg and at most of the art show venues and art exhibitions throughout Monroe and Pike Counties in Pennsylvania!
When I am not in the field or the studio paintings, I am actively involved in teaching others The Thrill of Watercolor in my ongoing watercolor paintings classes offered through the ARTSPACE Gallery, the Pocono Arts Council and the Monroe County Parks & Recreation Department. Painting outdoors, en pleine air, invigorates me and brings vitality to my work. I love sharing my unbridled enthusiasm and painting knowledge with others by teaching my watercolor and acrylic painting techniques in classes and workshops throughout this region. In the Spring of 2008, I began teaching weekly watercolor workshops at the Monroe County Correctional Facility in Snydersville, PA.
In 2006, I was awarded a Blue Ribbon for First Place in the juried art show at the annual Chestnut Hill Township Art Show, and in 2007 I was awarded a prestigious Honorary Mention Ribbon at the Pocono Arts Council's annual juried Members' Exhibition. Also, in 2007, one of my watercolor paintings was purchased by Aventis and added to the corporate art collection of sanofi-pasteur in Swiftwater, PA. In 2008, I was awarded a Blue Ribbon for First Place in the juried art show at the annual juried PoconoArts Members' Exhibition. Also in 2008, I was awarded a Blue Ribbon for First Place in the juried art show at the annual Courthouse Square Art Show in Stroudsburg.

My paintings are currently held in private and corporate collections in the United States and Canada.
I strive to show that watercolor and acrylic painting can be rich and dramatic. I see artistic inspiration everywhere I go, painting simply for enjoyment and spiritual gratification. My artistic creativity is predicated upon a primal energy that flows within me. The natural world is beautiful and filled with exciting possibilities, and I feel infinitely blessed to be able to observe and explore so much or it through my art. My paintings are rooted in bits of reality, as well as my own personal existence, forming a springboard for situations I may observe or imagine.
If I can establish a communion between my viewers and their own experiences with nature, if I can help them to discover and to reaffirm their bonds with the natural world, then my efforts have been rewarded.
